After School Club

Afer School Club

Opening Hours: 3:15 pm -6:00 pm, Monday-Friday

Cost: £14 per child per day

The After School Club session runs from 3.00 to 6.00 pm. Early Years children are collected from their classes at 3.00 pm and taken to the WCP room; Years 1 and 2 are collected from class at their appropriate finish times and Years 3 to 6 meet at an agreed point within the school building (which is by the Year 3 classrooms).

Resources and activities are laid out for children to do; there is a Reading Corner and a screen to watch age-appropriate programmes on as well as Lego, and various other imaginative play toys and board games. There are also creative art options such as painting and cutting and sticking.

The children are taken to the school hall for dinner. We provide a hot meal option every night (although there is also bread and butter, and ham and cheese available if children do not want the hot dinner) and the options change each night and include fish and chips, pasta (with a sauce and plain) and sausage rolls as well as juice, fruit platters and dessert.

The After School Club is managed by Mrs Susan Smith and she is supported by a team of Play Assistants who are, in the main, 6th formers from a local Grammar school. All staff working within this provision have enhanced DBS clearance.

Adults collecting children from ASC should come to the main office entrance (Iris Avenue) where there will be a Play Assistant ready to ascertain which child you are collecting; they will then prepare the child for going home (including helping them with their coats and ensuring they have all of their belongings) and bring your child out to you. Please note that children will not be dismissed to anyone that is not on the pick-up list within the WCP application form.

We feel that open and transparent communication is key to building essential positive relationships between parents and WCP; please know that you will be informed of any incidents or accidents that may have occurred during the session. Should the Class Teacher be unable to let you know of anything that has happened during the school day you will either be messaged via Class Dojo or Mrs Douglas will be informed and asked to pass this on.

We appreciate that at times situations arise that you have no control over – should you need your child to be collected by someone not on their collection list or if you are running late, please email Mrs Douglas as soon as possible so she can inform the club staff.
